Quaffing potions of moonshine generally has no benefit, and can be quite dangerous in dangerous situations, significantly worsening your general combat abilities. Because of that, the existence of potions of moonshine is generally a good reason to not drink unknown potions in combat unless very desperate, or at least until it has been identified alongside other potentially very negative potions (such as [[potion of mutation|mutation]]).

Some entrance vaults for the [[Orcish Mines]] have several identified potions of moonshine scattered across them. [[Xom]] is mildly amused if you quaff an unidentified potion of moonshine, but it's hard to do intentionally.
