Getting the simple Lair runes is enough to win, but after your second win, the point value of doing so is pretty meager. You'll probably not want to do this if your current species / background choices are worth absurd amounts, as prancing through Hell and Pandemonium is something of a gamble, but when playing easy characters, consider taking the risk.
