Also i cannot find a source for this within the code "if you are training one specific type of weapon, Xom will probably give you a different kind." There is nothing in the code to account for what you are training afaik; he just gives you a random weapon and it probably won't be what you're training given the nature of probability??? -- [[User:sinchyon|sinchyon]] 01:12, 11 June 2023 (CEST) | Not sure if this code [https://github.com/crawl/crawl/blob/56bf3466789caa7fd4c5900f9da68a0f869b82fd/crawl-ref/source/xom.cc#L971] means Xom can't confuse monsters who are holy AND nonliving or plants, or Xom cannot confuse monsters who are holy or nonliving or plants. Wait... what's the difference between interest and amusement? --Lokkij 18:00, 13 May 2013 (CEST)
Apparently the latter is a basic description of the mechanic (I assume it's called amusement), while the first explains how we can get/lose interest, thus also changing Xom's amusement. Granted, there is some double-mentioning, but I feel too much of a noob to merge those articles just by my hearsay. Secondly, in the interest-part there are tomes mentioned - I guess it's meaning this old stuff which was there for some versions but can now be found only as obsolete articles? If so, we can remove them from the list (seems vaguely outdated anyway)--Aargxl (talk) 01:45, 20 July 2019 (CEST)
Not sure if this code [1] means Xom can't confuse monsters who are holy AND nonliving or plants, or Xom cannot confuse monsters who are holy or nonliving or plants. Also i cannot find a source for this within the code "if you are training one specific type of weapon, Xom will probably give you a different kind." There is nothing in the code to account for what you are training afaik; he just gives you a random weapon and it probably won't be what you're training given the nature of probability??? -- sinchyon 01:12, 11 June 2023 (CEST)
- "Holiness" is the monster's state of being. So "natural" "demonic" and "holy" are each considered a holiness, as is "plant" and "nonliving". Therefore, the code means that Xom can't confuse plants or non-living beings.
- I also believe you are correct about the weapons. Since Xom gives you a random weapon, it has a 6/7ish chance of not being something you trained for. Hordes (talk) 12:23, 11 June 2023 (CEST)
"Bad" Effects
I can't find a source for Xom poisoning the player or opening Malign Gateways near them in xom.cc or xom.h. If someone could find one that would be greatly appreciated. Sinchyon (talk) 22:12, 11 June 2023 (CEST)
