Desirability
The mask of the dragon[1] provides an interesting trade-off. The willpower boost is nice, and see invisible convenient, though the most unique aspect is the +3 slaying. This comes at the cost of any AC from the helmet slot.
For melee and ranged fighters, it's usually worthwhile. Though, low AC characters may prefer a +2 helmet, while you might find a better artefact hat/helmet out there. For casters, the willpower alone can make it worth using (if you don't have another hat of willpower).
