Multizap is the ability to hit a monster multiple times with a single casting of a spell. Most of the time, only two spells can be used this way, both electrical: shock and lightning bolt (including the bolt from a wand of lightning). Beams of cold or fire can also be used for multizapping, if you find green crystal walls.

Note that in recent versions (0.9 and later) these spells can hit a target a maximum of two times. Setting up a pattern to zap a target more than two times is only useful for getting extra opportunities to hit in case some zaps miss the target.

Multizap cannot be done in areas with metal walls, as the electricity becomes "grounded" after striking the first wall.

Note: Since 0.9 Shock and Lightning bolt can only hit a target a maximum of twice. However setting up a trizap or quadrazap path might still be worthwhile in case the first 1-2 miss.

Common multizap patterns

These apply for range 8 Shock. For lightning bolt, extend those remembering that hitting a monster and continuing is free. but and bouncing off a wall costs two unit of range (i.e. the wall counts for two squares). A monster next to the wall is however still affected even if range is exceeded, as long as one range unit is left when hitting the monster before the bounce.

Bounce back, monster next to wall

Bizap and hit yourself:
@.M# <-- shoot at monster with the '!' key
Bizap:
@..M# <-- shoot at monster with the '!' key

... up to ...

Bizap:
@......M# <-- shoot at monster with the '!' key
Monozap:

Bounce back, monster one square from wall

Bizap and hit yourself:

Bounce back, monster two squares from wall

Bizap:

Monozap:

Corner bounce, monster next to wall

Also works with a concave corner:

Trizap

If you know of other trizap patterns, please add them.

Trizap:

Trizap:

Trizap:

Trizap (sometimes self-monozap also; depends on orientation):
@.#
.M# <-- shoot at this wall with the '!' key
#.

Quadrazap

Quadrazap:
@#
.M# <-- shoot at this wall with the '!' key
#.

Warning: Do not use this pattern unless you have electricity resistance, otherwise you will take a fair amount of damage.

Quadrazap, and self bizap:
#@M# <-- shoot at monster

This looks like it should be a bizap, but takes advantage of the fact that the initial bounce currently turns 90 degrees when shooting into a corner as pictured.

Quadrazap:

#M@ <-- shoot at monster
