An aum (or Arbitrary Unit of Mass) was the standard unit of weight in Crawl. It had no real-world equivalent, and item weights were generally assigned according to game balance rather than realism. Each point of strength increased your carrying capacity by 25 aum. When this capacity was exceeded, the player gained the encumbered condition.

History

  • In 0.15, Crawl lost all concept of weight.
  • Prior to 0.13, each point of strength increased your carrying capacity by 30, but characters had much less base capacity.
  • Prior to 0.6, each point of strength only gave you 10 aum of carrying capacity.
