An intricate animated statue made of heavily ensorcelled, tough crystal. They are immune to most forms of magic, and are magically charged to toss great bolts of fire and cold that are reflected by any surface.

Useful Info

Crystal guardians are moderately durable golems capable of launching powerful bolts of fire or cold damage at anything they encounter. These bolts are unusual in that they can bounce off any surface. Crystal guardians can be found in the Depths, the Vaults, the Elven Halls, the Abyss, and some vaults.

Tips & Tricks

  • Lee's Rapid Deconstruction will obliterate them and mangle everything standing nearby. Other Earth Magic or pure Conjurations spells are rather effective as well. Hexes and other elemental schools of magic are completely useless against them, however.
  • Their bolts can deal heavy fire or cold damage (randomly selected each casting), and they bounce off any wall. Bring appropriate resistances, and don't face them with your back to a wall unless you want to double their damage output through multizaps.
  • Their EV is even worse than other golems. Bolt of Inaccuracy will make fairly short work of them.

History

Crystal guardians were added in 0.14, replacing crystal golems.
