Useful Info

Eidolons are insubstantial undead monsters, similar to wraiths but stronger. Their melee attacks are both draining branded and cause random stat damage. They can also magically terrify you, making you unable to move closer to the eidolon for some time. They are found in the Abyss, as well as several Crypt endings.

Tips & Tricks

Cause Fear can be resisted with high magic resistance. Even if it isn't resisted, it is rarely that much of a threat, although it can occasionally cause a dangerous lack of mobility, particularly in the Abyss. Luckily, Cause Fear does not affect your ability to attack these monsters in melee once they approach.

In 0.13 Eidolons will drain speed instead of xp. This low-duration slow enchantment is fully-resistable with one level of life protection. Bolt of draining will be added to their spellset.
