Desirability
The distinguishing feature of the fencer's gloves is the short/long blade skill boost. But even if you can't take advantage of that, the bonuses to both dexterity and EV make you significantly harder to hit.
History
Prior to 0.17, these gloves gave +2 slaying instead of the skill bonuses.
Prior to 0.15, these gloves gave only +3 to dexterity, and added +8 to accuracy rather than +2 slaying.
