Fungi are harmless, stationary monsters, similar to plants but with less AC and HP.
Tips & Ticks
With the skill changes in 0.10 and 0.11, there is absolutely no benefit to skills or weapon identification from attacking fungi. Thus, you should only destroy them if they're in your way, or if you're really bored.
Fedhas worshipers can evolve fungi into wandering mushrooms.
