A comical figure full of life and laughter. It looks very happy to see you... but is there a slightly malicious cast to its features? Is that red face paint or something altogether less pleasant?

Useful Info

Killer Klowns are powerful humanoid monsters found only in the Realm of Zot. They have decent HP, the speed of a centaur, the regeneration rate of a troll, the sporadic blinking of a blink frog, and a melee attack capable of randomly inflicting any of the following attack flavours:

Although this is less unpredictable than a chaos branded attack, it still leaves you uncertain of what to expect.

Spells

Spell set I
Slot1 Throw Klown Pie (3d20) Natural flag
Slot2 Blink Magical flag

Tips & Tricks

  • They have excellent magic resistance, but lack any elemental resistances, so it's not too hard to pile up the damage on them. Try to blast them at range before they can reach you.
  • If you aren't ready for it, their most dangerous attack flavour by far is cold. While rF+, rElec, rN+, and rPois are also highly recommended, facing them without at least rC+ is a gamble you should try to avoid.
  • Their constant blinking works against them if you have decent ranged attacks and a clear, open area to fight in. Use the time they spend running back into melee range with you to whittle away at their health from afar.

Trivia

Killer Klowns were originally murderous extraterrestrial pranksters in the 1988 Academy Award® winning comedy horror sci-fi film, Killer Klowns from Outer Space.

History

In 0.23, Killer Klowns will lose their fast regeneration and randomised brand melee attack, and instead gain a highly-enchanted club as a weapon, and a new ability Throw Klown Pie, which will affect the target with a random, dangerous magical effect on hit out of: silence, inability to drink potions, fire vulnerability, 1-3 stat drain to all stats, vertigo, or polymorph into a bad form (reduced chance). This polymorph is guaranteed to place the player in a form that can move, that is bat form, pig form or wisp form.

Prior to 0.14 Klowns had a different set of damage brands for their melee attack: fire, cold, nasty poison, drain XP, rot, blink, anti-magic.
