Useful Info

Orb Guardians are enormous creatures which prowl the chambers of the Orb of Zot, assaulting intruders on sight. They lack any unique or special abilities, but they have excellent speed, hit hard, appear in swarms, are durable enough to handle a few turns of abuse from high-level characters, and often wander into combat with you as you're facing one of the more interesting inhabitants of the Realm of Zot. They are normally only found in the Orb chamber of Zot:5, but can randomly generate anywhere during the ascension.

Tips & Tricks

  • If you're encountering Orb Guardians, you're almost there! Please be careful.
  • Although by no means harmless, Orb Guardians are normally one of the least threatening enemies found on Zot:5. Try not to fight them near a moth of wrath, however, as a berserk Orb Guardian hits much harder and faster than normal.
  • Orb Guardians are natural animals with no resistances, average defenses, and only moderate hit dice, so almost any means of disposing of enemies will work on them. Quiet means of doing so are generally much safer, however.
