Type Potion
Name Potion of curing
Icon Potion of curing.png
A potion which heals some wounds, clears the mind and cures poison and disease. It can also slightly repair rotting.

Quaffing a potion of curing cures poison, confusion and sickness, as well as restores 1d7 + 4 HP.

If your maximum hit points have been reduced by rot, quaffing a potion of curing will first heal the rot. Each point of rot reduces the effectiveness of healing by 2 points for every point of rot.

You feel better.

Strategy

These are best saved for times when you need to cure a negative status effect, preferring potions of heal wounds for restoring HP. However, if you should find yourself without any other healing or escape option (most commonly early in the game), these can be useful for restoring HP in a pinch. Just don't be surprised if whatever monster you're facing takes off most of the healed HP with its next attack.

If you plan to complete all dungeon branches, especially Tombs and Hell, there are multiple sources dealing rot damage, so it is handy to have a stock of potions of curing ready to cure it.

History

  • Prior to 0.17, potions of curing could only heal rot when at or near full health.
  • Prior to 0.10, this item was known as a potion of healing.
