A skeletal form wreathed in cold blue fire standing astride this life and the next. Echoes of the lingering dead flicker within its ghostly flames.

Useful Info

Revenants are powerful undead beings, able to manipulate the ghostly flames of departed and lingering souls.

Firstly, they can create clouds of ghostly flame which deal partially-irresistable negative energy damage (though undead are fully immune). These are less powerful than flame or freezing clouds, but they periodically spawn random spectral things with a very short duration.

Secondly, they can hurl ghostly fireballs. These are also partially-irresistible negative energy attacks, and they ignore half of your AC, but any undead caught in the blast will actually be healed by the attack.

Finally, they possess Dispel Undead, giving them an actual direct damage option for use against undead players, and can blink away as an emergency spell.

Revenants can be found in the Crypt and Crypt-themed Ziggurat floors.

Tips & Tricks

It's worth noting that the spectral things will push their way past revenants, allowing them to tank hits on the revenant's behalf while the latter can hurl fireballs from behind, healing the blocker and damaging the player in the process. Consequently, it is often best to fight them outside of corridors, so as to avoid getting pinned by a tide of spectrals with no hope of reaching the revenant.
