The Spellcasting skill determines how proficient a character is at casting spells from memory. A higher Spellcasting level gives your character more spell levels and increases your max MP. It also has a minor effect on your spell power and spell success rate, but increasing skill in a spell's individual magic schools has a greater effect on both attributes.
Note that the max MP increase granted by Spellcasting is not cumulative with that of Invocations; only the highest of the two is used. For this purpose, Spellcasting is twice as effective.
Djinn
The Innate Casting of a Djinni gives Spellcasting a unique purpose. Spellcasting skill does not raise their MP or HP, but instead is as effective for casting power as any spell school, while counting as every spell school.
