[[Vehumet]] used to be a natural god for Summoners, as before [[0.12]] he offered all of the major Summoning spellbooks as gifts, including the aforementioned Grand Grimoire. He would also award piety when your summoned allies kill things. Finally, all his bonuses are passive, freeing you from having to train the [[Invocations]] skill (unless you plan to abandon him after you get your precious books).

Summoners specialise in calling creatures from this (and other) worlds to serve them. Although they can at first summon only very wimpy creatures, the more advanced summoning spells allow them to call on such powers as elementals and demons.

Starting Equipment

Some species may receive different items based on their unique restrictions.

Starting Skills

These are adjusted by your species' aptitudes.

Strategy

Recommended species for Summoner include Deep Elf, Sludge Elf, Kobold, Naga, Draconian, Ogre, Tengu, Vampire, and Mummy.

Relying on summoned creatures to kill opponents for you does reduce your gained XP somewhat. Don't be afraid to get your hands a little dirty when dealing with generally harmless foes.

History

In 0.14 they will start with 2 Spellcasting.
