Calls on the powers of darkness to cause agonising injury to any living thing in the caster's vicinity, cutting their resilience in half. This damage is never directly lethal.

Symbol of Torment is a monsters-only spell that calls on the powers of darkness to cause agonising torment to everything in sight. Unlike Agony, it ignores magic resistance and reduces by half the health of all creatures in sight that do not possess torment immunity. While the spell technically affects all monsters in sight, all monsters that cast it are torment-immune, and it is most commonly seen in areas such as the Tomb or Hell, where nearly all of the inhabitants are also torment-immune.

There are numerous ways for a player to duplicate this effect, although beware that doing so will target every living thing in your line of sight (including you). For a list of methods and ways to minimize the costs, see torment.
