Useful Info

Trapdoor spiders are territorial monsters that are normally content to hide underground. However, if you stand adjacent to their tile, they will come to the surface and attack. They are moderately powerful, fast, and poisonous, and the fact that you can only find them by walking into melee range makes escape very challenging. They may flee back underground when injured, making it difficult to land a finishing blow. They can occasionally be found in the Dungeon and more commonly in the Spider's Nest.

Tips & Tricks

  • Ensorcelled Hibernation does not work as well as you might hope against these; once put to sleep, they immediately burrow back underground. Mephitic Cloud-confused spiders, on the other hand, are incapable of escaping in that manner.
  • Ignite Poison can hurt them even when they're underground.
