Hi Arcanist. I just wanted to express my sympathy about [http://crawl.chaosforge.org/index.php?title=Ecumenical_Temple&diff=37904&oldid=37898 your edits regarding the Ecumenical Temple] getting reverted today. I can see what you were doing there and I agree it may be strategy that's worth considering. Please remember that everything that's added/edited in the wiki is subject to general consensus, meaning it has to be largely agreed upon. Generally, we try to steer away from more subjective recommendations (aside from [[Character guides]]) and what exists in the articles has to be pretty universal and agreed upon. I like to add strategic recommendations myself, but I too have to remember that if another editor doesn't agree with my edit and/or its content, he or she is free to revert or otherwise delete/remove it (which does sometimes happen). But that said, I encourage you - don't give up! This wiki was built upon individual efforts of editors like yourself and we appreciate what you are trying to do. Stay bold in your editing but know that sometimes they won't be accepted. If you are really into advice & recommendations, I would encourage you to write a character guide. They are a great way to give advice that (usually) won't be contended. :) Cheers my friend, --[[User:Buddy23Lee|Buddy23Lee]] ([[User talk:Buddy23Lee|talk]]) 01:27, 27 August 2015 (CEST)

Hey, Arcanist, thanks for trying to keep stuff on the wiki up to date. A couple of points regarding your recent edits to the Large Abomination article:<br>
 +
1) Large Abominations have stats that vary widely, so we actually don't want their data to be automatically updated from the databases whenever a new version comes out. That's why we have the <nowiki>{{no-bot-monster}}</nowiki> template instead of the normal one with the monster bot flags.<br>
 +
2) I fixed the formatting issue in the data cells (you'd added spaces between the numbers and the dash, and evidently the wiki's formatting didn't like that). For future reference, if you're doing multiple revisions of an article and trying to get the formatting right, try using the "Show preview" button next to the "Save page" button -- that way, you can see what your changes will look like, but you can still edit them further without filling up the Recent Changes list with a bunch of iterations.<br>

Editing

Hi Arcanist. I just wanted to express my sympathy about your edits regarding the Ecumenical Temple getting reverted today. I can see what you were doing there and I agree it may be strategy that's worth considering. Please remember that everything that's added/edited in the wiki is subject to general consensus, meaning it has to be largely agreed upon. Generally, we try to steer away from more subjective recommendations (aside from Character guides) and what exists in the articles has to be pretty universal and agreed upon. :) Cheers my friend, --Buddy23Lee (talk) 01:27, 27 August 2015 (CEST)

Re:Large Abomination

Hey, Arcanist, thanks for trying to keep stuff on the wiki up to date. A couple of points regarding your recent edits to the Large Abomination article:
1) Large Abominations have stats that vary widely, so we actually don't want their data to be automatically updated from the databases whenever a new version comes out. That's why we have the {{no-bot-monster}} template instead of the normal one with the monster bot flags.
2) I fixed the formatting issue in the data cells (you'd added spaces between the numbers and the dash, and evidently the wiki's formatting didn't like that). For future reference, if you're doing multiple revisions of an article and trying to get the formatting right, try using the "Show preview" button next to the "Save page" button -- that way, you can see what your changes will look like, but you can still edit them further without filling up the Recent Changes list with a bunch of iterations.
Thanks again for helping out! --spudwalt (talk) 23:35, 28 August 2015 (CEST)
