Skill points needed per skill level

I think it'd be nice to have a table for this somewhere on the wiki, and this article seems likely to be the best place to add such a table. I haven't added it yet because I don't know how to interpret the relevant code, which is in skills.cc (line 2312 in 0.32.0). Do you guys think the table I'm proposing is a good idea for this article, or would there be a better place for it? Patrick2011b (talk) 22:02, 7 September 2024 (CEST)

We already have the table you're describing at Skill#Experience Required. I wouldn't object to moving/duplicating it here, though, especially given the last section of this article is potentially more than 20 versions out of date at present. NormalPerson7 (talk) 01:45, 8 September 2024 (CEST)
I forgot about the Skill article when I proposed the table. I've copied it over, and I'll leave the copy at Skill#Experience Required for now in case that article should still have it. I also checked skills.cc, and it looks like the skill point ratios haven't changed. Patrick2011b (talk) 23:44, 11 September 2024 (CEST)
Ok. I've gone ahead and removed the old section as it was written in 2013 and the numbers look like they bear no resemblance to modern Crawl costs. I do wonder if we should consider adding m screen relative costs to the new table. This article could also do with a mention of how skill points earned does not equal experience earned, and in fact dramatically steps down with total experience. I might have a go at these later. That section you removed was the stepdown, but I'm not going to reinstate it yet because "XP 130 level" is surely an outdated way to present it. The code for that stepdown is here, while the last commit to the table itself was 11 years ago. If I'm interpreting the code correctly, the stepdown is still accurate for modern Crawl but could use a better presentation. As for the m screen, including something about relative cost seems like a good idea. Patrick2011b (talk) 22:31, 12 September 2024 (CEST)
