Desirability
The brooch of Shielding is an amulet of guardian spirit that also provides a large SH boost. Like other amulets of guardian spirit, it is a little risky for spellcasters to use as it can cause you to run out of MP earlier than you'd expect. Characters that don't rely on MP will definitely find it better than standard amulets; the SH boost is greater than an amulet of reflection with guardian spirit on top. An excellent randart may be superior or provide a necessary resistance, but this unrand is still very desirable.
The brooch of Shielding is the shield equivalent of the rings of the Tortoise and Hare.
