The movie industry glamour of actors/actresses are sometimes ridiculous to a sober observer but will have effects to susceptible fans - just like game mechanics in DCSS maybe. The spell "Alistairs intoxication" is a little bit in this direction. And "glamour" is just an overwhelming effect even without alcohol. The allusion to "real" TV show worlds makes me laugh. - The mythological vampyres have a tremendous bewitchment trait to possible victims, true.
