Helmets are a kind of head armour that have 1 base AC. They may only be worn by small- or medium-size adventurers without beaks, horns, or antennae.
Helmets may be decorated as winged, horned, crested, plumed, spiked, or visored. These descriptions change the tile used to represent the helmet but have no other in-game effect.
Dwarven or orcish helmets exist, offering their corresponding bonuses. Rare ego helmets boost intelligence or magic resistance, or grant the ability to see invisible. Non-artifact helmets may be enchanted up to +2.
