Presumably this relic led to the invention of the famous spell, or maybe the other way around.

Desirability

Good if you have decent throwing skill or find it early on, and some characters who find it early might wield it for its high enchantment. A trident is likely to be a superior melee weapon, however. Some casters who don't rely much on melee might also appreciate the Int bonus, although an enhancer staff is usually more desirable.

The spell does more damage, obviously.

History

Despite the description, it is not ambiguous which came first, the spell or the spear: the spell predates this artefact by many versions.
