Version 0.34: This article is up to date for the latest stable release of Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup.
This page is a stub. You could probably expand this page should you wish to do so.

Banes are harmful modifiers applied to the player, usually after accumulating too much Doom. When a player's doom meter reaches 100% (the current amount can be seen in the top right) they will gain a single, random Bane. The player will have to gain experience to remove Banes (shown by how many levels worth of XP are required next to the Bane).

Banes are not mutations, and therefore can affect undead player species. They cannot be removed with a potion of mutation.

Undead player species require twice(?) as much experience to remove Doom and Banes compared to non-undead species.

Sources of Banes

  • Xom actions and Kikuubaqudgha wrath.
