All insubstantial monsters are without physical form of any sort. They are immune to rotting, petrification, and constriction. Sticky Flame will not "stick" to them, although it will do damage on the turn it is cast.
Insubstantial monsters have no special resistances or immunities to weapons of any sort, unlike, for example, NetHack's shades.
