A dispersal trap is a magical trap that causes all actors (the player and monsters) in line of sight of the trap to blink when anything steps on the trap.
Tips and Tricks
- Be careful to avoid letting anything step on one of these traps where being blinked could put you in a significantly worse position, such as having monsters trapped between you and your retreat path or the upstairs.
- When there is only one monster around, and that monster is normal speed, you can use dispersal traps to your advantage to try to create a gap between you and the monster so that you can fire wands or spells or ranged weapons at them, or run away (in a similar manner to the Blink spell. This is not recommended for faster monsters, as they could catch you up as you run away and deal damage.
