Mechanics
For every "high" threat enemy in line of sight, the labrys gains +3 enchantment. For every "lethal" threat enemy, it gains +9 enchantment. The maximum enchantment is +16.
See the Threat article for how a monster's threat is determined.
Desirability
The Consecrated labrys[1] is, at minimum, a +4 broad axe of holy wrath, which is already a great weapon for the extended game. The labrys will frequently raise its enchantment, making it even stronger. Any reasonably threatening monster will count as "tough", so reaching a +13 or +16 enchantment is quite easy.
During the 3-rune portion of the game, the labrys can still be a great weapon. While its brand will rarely be effective, it will frequently get to a high enchantment.
History
- The Consecrated labrys was added in 0.30.
