Agony is a level 5 Necromancy spell which functions as a single-target torment, cutting the HP of one adjacent target in half. It cannot deal lethal damage, but it can very quickly soften up powerful, uninjured targets like hydras or giants to make them more manageable.

Agony is a monster-only spell which attempts to inflict torment on a single target in LOS, requiring line of fire. If it succeeds a willpower check, it cuts their current HP by half. As with regular torment, negative energy resistance provides protection (players: -5% HP per rN+), as well as torment resistance.

Like torment, it is worthless against enemy demons and all undead, and reduced by negative energy resistance. It can also be resisted by willpower. Note that Agony has an enchantment power multiplier of x5, which makes it much harder to resist than the usual Hex.

While the damage output of this spell is considerable, the caster must be able to survive a few turns at close range to take full advantage of it. Agony is a monster-only spell which attempts to inflict torment on a single target in LOS, requiring line of fire. If it succeeds a willpower check, it cuts their current HP by half.
