The '''storm bow'''<ref>{{source ref|0.30.1|art-data.txt|779}}</ref>, as a +8 longbow of electrocution, is already a great item for [[Ranged Weapons]] users (even if it takes a hefty skill investment). The added penetration allows it to shine in corridors, where only 1 enemy may hit you, but you get to hit multiple enemies for full damage. A longbow or [[triple crossbow]] of a different brand may be stronger against rElec enemies, but even then, the penetration can make it worth using.

Desirability

The storm bow[1], as a +8 longbow of electrocution, is already a great item for Ranged Weapons users (even if it takes a hefty skill investment). The added penetration allows it to shine in corridors, where only 1 enemy may hit you, but you get to hit multiple enemies for full damage. It also lets you snipe enemies without using Portal Projectile. While a longbow or triple crossbow of a different brand may be stronger against rElec enemies, the penetration can make this bow worth using as a swapout.

History

  • In 0.24, the storm bow gained the penetration brand.
  • Prior to 0.23, the storm bow would occasionally create rain clouds around the wielder, which could turn normal terrain into shallow water and shallow water into deep water for up to 100 turns.
