+8 katana (modified long sword: 14 base damage, 3 base accuracy, 12 base delay)
May cast Manifold Assault on hit (20% chance).
Desirability
The autumn katana[1] is a very nice weapon if you can find it. With better base stats than a demon blade, it has excellent speed, decent damage output, and the chance to target multiple, distant foes at once.
The extra attacks roughly equate to vorpal when 2 monsters are on screen. As the weapon will not attack your melee target again, it is useless against lone monsters. It becomes stronger as more monster are available, up to 5 monsters.
The spell Manifold Assault still works with this weapon ("Space folds impossibly around your blade!"). It is unknown if the weapon proc can activate when using the spell.
History
- Prior to 0.28, the autumn katana had the vorpal brand and clarity instead of the ability to cast Manifold Assault. It also gained 1 base damage, but lost riposte. Note that the game falsely states it has the vorpal brand in 0.28 and 0.29.
- The autumn katana was added in 0.10.
