A light leather suit reinforced with a covering of metal rings. Protective in
combat, but slightly uncomfortable due to the added weight. |
Ring mail is a body armour one step heavier than leather armour.
Desirability
It is generally not that useful, although its interference with spellcasting is small enough that some light users may prefer it. Even so, there are usually better options unless one finds a ring mail, artefact or otherwise, which grants a needed resistance. Ring mail does have the advantage that it can be made corrosion-proof through enchantment, although this alone is not usually a reason to choose it over a leather armour and an amulet of resist corrosion.
Trivia
Ring mail is an item of armour whose historical existence is somewhat doubtful. It seems more likely that it is a Victorian misinterpretation of contemporary depictions of chain mail or scale mail, or that the rings were merely items of decoration.
