Metal Splinters

Metal Splinters is a monster-only spell which blasts you with a cloud of shrapnel, dealing moderate ranged physical damage.

The following monsters cast Metal Splinters:

E Iron elemental- 3d27

D Iron dragon- 3d30

D Serpent of Hell- Dis only, 3d32

9 war gargoyle- 3d27

& Pandemonium lord- in one of their spell sets

History

In 0.14, war gargoyles are also capable of casting Metal Splinters.

In very early, pre-DCSS versions of Crawl, this was a player-castable spell, a L8 Conjurations spell called Throw Splinters. Notably, it was a penetrating bolt, dealt pure physical damage, and bypassed enemy evasion. It was replaced in Crawl 2.7 with Lehudib's Crystal Spear.
