Type Scroll

This scroll cancels all magical enchantments from the reader and from beings in the vicinity. Also, the magical resistances of the reader and nearby beings are halved for a short duration. The latter effect does not apply to beings fully immune to magic.

Reading a scroll of vulnerability causes all of the following to affect everything in your line of sight (including you!):

  • Magic resistance is halved for a short duration. Magic-immune monsters are unaffected.
  • All magical effects which have a set duration immediately expire.
  • You lose 1 to 5 points of magic contamination.

These scrolls are somewhat rare, and usually start appearing by the middle floors of the Dungeon. Although many characters will go through the game without using one, they are very situationally useful, allowing you to quickly purge magic contamination after accidentally stumbling into a Zot trap. They are particularly useful for enchanters, followers of Yredelemnul, and any other character which needs to overcome very high magic resistance. Just remember that your magic resistance is also affected!
