Type Scroll
Name Scroll of vulnerability
Icon Scroll of vulnerability.png
This scroll cancels all magical enchantments from the reader and from beings in the vicinity. Also, the magical resistances of the reader and nearby beings are halved for a short duration. The latter effect does not apply to beings fully immune to magic.

Reading a scroll of vulnerability causes all of the following to affect everything in your line of sight (including you!):

These scrolls are somewhat rare, and usually start appearing by the middle floors of the Dungeon. They can also help when facing powerful branch-end monsters which will almost always haste themselves in the course of a fight, such as Dispater and Cerebov. They are particularly useful for enchanters and any other character which needs to overcome very high magic resistance. Just remember that your magic resistance and buffs are also affected!

History

Prior to 0.15 scrolls of vulnerability had a large range of effects: All magical effects which have a set duration immediately expired and you lost 1 to 5 points of magic contamination. Both were transfered to the new potion of cancellation that even appears at earlier Dungeon levels.
