Parchment
Parchments are a type of item that allow the player to memorize a single spell when picked up. Parchments are pre-identified and named "Parchment of (spell)" when examined.
They can be found in large quantities in book shops, where higher-level spells will cost more gold. Djinni are unable to pick up parchments, and will instead burn them to ash when attempting to take them.
Parchments are much more common than spellbooks used to be, making the total number of spells found in the game roughly equal to that of previous versions. Floors with shops past the Dungeon and Lair have an increasing likelihood of containing an additional parchment shop. Randbooks now only appear in select vaults or via acquirement and Sif Muna gifts. Higher-level spells are now somewhat rarer early in the game and more common later.
