Version 0.15: This article may not be up to date for the latest stable release of Crawl.
A dirty hat. It bears signs of surviving many weird explosions, which suggests it may have means of protecting the head inside from the risks involved in alchemy experiments. And with the kind of protections granted by this hat, it's certain some prior head damage was a prerequisite for even thinking about such experiments. |
+2 hat
rF+
rC+
rElec
+40 MR
Desirability
The hat of the Alchemist is a very desirable artefact for almost any character, providing four useful resistances with no downside in a slot that almost any species can use. Barring an absurdly good randart, one would be hard-pressed to find headgear superior to this: the slight loss in potential AC (over a +2 helmet) is absolutely worth it for the resistances this item provides.
History
In 0.16, the Hat of the Alchemist provides rF+, rC+, rElec, rPois, rN, MR+, rMut, and rCorr, but has an enchantment level of -2.
