Desirability
With a massive boost to all forms of spellcasting, the robe of Folly[1] is a tempting piece of armour for any mage. An encounter with an opponent capable of banishing or paralysing you can very easily get you killed, and even confusion can be devastating. For any player trying to win, this item should very much be avoided. But casual player might enjoy the absolute destruction the robe provides, especially with now-spammable long range spells such as Ozocubu's Refrigeration. Note that the Lair and some Lair rune branches (the Spider's Nest, Snake Pit, and Shoals) do not have immediately threatening enchantments (mesmerization still hurts) - barring uniques who could very well spawn with your robe of Folly.
