While I normally think listing every possible layout and vault for a stage is a bit of overkill, I think it's pretty appropriate here, considering how static they all are. How would you all feel about changing the majority of this page to a layout along these lines:

Layout X

The Volcano Layout X is blah blah description of layout, unusual features of map (occasional eruptions along the shores, protected area inside stone walls, ending vault with heavy opposition, gauntlet of statues that force melee range combat, etc. etc.)

List of Monsters here, in some format. I'm not super keen on only showing a couple images out of the batch, but I can also appreciate the argument against a massive swatch of the page being mostly blank with a list of monsters hugging the left-hand side. Maybe a grid layout a la Orcish Mines?

Map

xxxx
x..x
xxxx

Layout Y

Repeat

Let me know what everyone thinks about this. I could probably Google Fu up the various layouts, but without the ability to code dive, I wouldn't be confident about finding them all. Any volunteers? --MoogleDan (talk) 14:34, 21 July 2014 (CEST)

Well. A large bunch of scattered thoughts in reply:

  • All portal vaults (bar most troves and bazaars for the distinct lack of benefit) could use pages (heavily) detailing their layouts due to their more static and finite nature, really. Information-rich assessments are one of this medium's strengths, and something I obvious strive to produce. Wizlabs were just obvious outliers due to the extremely disparate nature of their layouts. At any rate, I might slowly make my way through all portal vault pages to feature said level of in-depth layout write-ups / displays.
  • I wrote up the special room page partially to further practice monster displays and to practice using table syntax. Using such tables over the current page's format would be better, and something I might do soon myself.
  • Volcanos specifically heavily use subvaults and other-such vault magic, which makes it more complicated than it looks to do the above format. I stopped where I did due to getting as much immediately-useful information as was plausible to create and display at the moment.

I can volunteer some more baseline work from my previous source-diving for further write-up potential, as desired, with the usual corrections due to the finicky interpretations of vaults. I am mostly bouncing around (as related to my strength, vault-) topics to get used to this format of posting; before seeing this page, I was about to try screenshot-slices for some of my earlier-edited pages or making some fancy template tables as interconnectivity for wizlabs / branches and their contents / monster lists and related spells or abilities / etc. --Tower (talk) 16:38, 21 July 2014 (CEST)

I definitely agree regarding point 1; the portal vaults are all in need of detailed layout information. After providing a bit of a generic introduction, jumping into specific layout possibilities would be much more useful than what we've currently got. I've been trying to reduce my activity on the site, so however you wish to reorganize is fair game (at least so far as I'm concerned). Just keep in mind that summarized, easy-to-read information is not always such a bad thing :P --MoogleDan (talk) 18:57, 21 July 2014 (CEST)
