Version 0.14: This article may not be up to date for the latest stable release of Crawl.
An encumbered character who continues picking up items will eventually become overloaded instead, suffering the following:
- Cannot climb stairs
- +3 to movement delay
- +5 hunger per action
- Stealth is divided by 5
- Slows Unarmed Combat
Grabbing further items eventually becomes impossible. To avoid being overloaded, the player should find a safe area to make a stash of items they don't need to carry around at all times.
History
The overloaded status effect (and item weight in general) will be removed in 0.15.
