Potion of moonshine
| A potent alcohol, distilled in some dubious corner of the dungeon. Drinking it reduces the imbiber's accuracy, evasion, and spellcasting success for a while.
""If when you say 'whiskey' you mean the devil's brew, the poison scourge, the bloody monster, that defiles innocence, dethrones reason, destroys the home, creates misery and poverty, yea, literally takes the bread from the mouths of little children... then certainly I am against it." -Noah S. Sweat, Jr. "If By Whiskey", 1952 |
Quaffing a potion of moonshine inflicts vertigo for 10-25 turns, temporarily reducing your to-hit, spell success chance, and evasion. Quaffing potions of moonshine generally has no benefit, and can be quite dangerous in dangerous situations, significantly worsening your general combat abilities. Because of that, the existence of potions of moonshine is generally a good reason to not drink unknown potions in combat unless very desperate, or at least until it has been identified alongside other potentially very negative potions (such as mutation).
Some entrance vaults for the Orcish Mines have several identified potions of moonshine scattered across them. Xom is mildly amused if you quaff an unidentified potion of moonshine, but it's hard to do intentionally.
It is an uncommon potion.
You feel tipsy.
