Player use
The beam from a wand of acid zapped by the player is a Corrosive Bolt with a power rating of 15 + 5*Evocations/2. It can hold at most 15 charges.
Monster use
The corrosive bolt projected by a wand of acid in the hands of a monster uses a power rating of 30 + (monster hit dice).
Tips and tricks
Wands of acid provide a powerful backup attack. Few monsters are resistant to acid and the bolt has a chance to corrode its targets, allowing for even further damage.
History
Wands of acid were added in 0.18.
