This blessed ring protects the life-force of its wearer from negative energy, making them partially immune to the draining effects of undead and necromantic magic.

A ring of life protection (rN+) protects its wearer from draining attacks and necromantic magic, providing one level of negative energy resistance.

Strategy

Whether this ring is useful or not is largely situational, although life protection is decidedly less useful than fire or cold resistance. As all draining attacks are subject to EV, very agile characters will not generally need much negative energy resistance. However, high-AC, low-EV characters taking on the shadow dragon-heavy Vault:8 will usually want at least two levels of life protection, since they can otherwise expect to come out of that place 1-2 experience levels below where they began.
