Cigotuvi's Dreadful Rot Cigotuvi's Dreadful Rot is a level 2 Necromancy/Air Magic/Poison Magic spell which creates a cloud of miasma on your tile.
Hedge Wizards start with this spell in their libraries.
Useful Info
Creates a cloud of miasma on the user's tile. This slows, heavily poisons, and damages any creature that steps inside. Undead and nonliving monsters, as well as those with
You are immune to this cloud while you cast this spell, but vulnerable thereafter. I.e. you must move away from the cloud on the turn after you cast this spell to avoid getting hurt.
Each cast will temporarily drain about 9% of the player's max HP.[1] This can be cured by gaining XP.
Strategy
Most monsters in the early game won't willingly walk through the miasma cloud. In a hallway, you can create a cloud, then attack behind it for a few turns. It can also be used to escape foes, if used in a hallway.
Tips & Tricks
- Works well with Mephitic Cloud, as confused monsters can fall into the cloud. Can also be combined with Lesser Beckoning or a potion of attraction for the same result.
- Undead and nonliving monsters are unaffected by miasma. Also watch out for monsters with ranged attacks
History
- This spell was added in 0.30, replacing both Corpse Rot and Conjure Flame.
