This spell attempts to send all hostile summoned creatures in sight to the place whence they came, or at least shorten their stay in the caster's locality. |
Mass Abjuration is a Level 6 Summoning spell that shortens the life duration of all hostile summoned creatures in your LOS, dependent upon spell power. (However, it has no effect on summons visible behind transparent walls.) A sufficiently powerful cast versus a sufficiently diminished monster will unsummon it altogether.
A weaker version of this spell, Abjuration, is a Level 3 Summonings spell that affects a single targeted creature.
Monster Version
Strictly speaking, there is no distinct monster-version of the Mass Abjuration spell. Instead, all high-level monster-version Summonings spells have an inherent 50% chance of a Mass Abjuration effect that replaces the effect of the previously intended spell. (This replacement only occurs if there are valid summons, hostile to the monster, in its LOS.) The high-level Summonings spells which have this inherent Mass Abjuration are:
- Summon Demon
- Summon Greater Demon
- Summon Drakes
- Summon Water Elemental
- Summon Iron Elemental
- Shadow Creatures
- Summon Ugly Thing
- Summon Scorpions
- Summon Mushrooms
- Summon Caniforms
- Summon Eyeballs
- Summon Dragon
- Summon Hydra
- Fire Summon
History
Pre-0.10, there was but one Abjuration spell and it had the effect of the current Mass Abjuration spell.
