Version 0.34: This article is up to date for the latest stable release of Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup.

All insubstantial creatures are without physical form of any sort. They are immune to petrification, constriction, being held by nets or webs, barbs, -Move from Throw Bolas, and the Sticky Flame status. Also, they take less damage from Shatter. Insubstantial monsters and players don't get the movement penalty from Leda's Liquefaction, but only if someone else cast this spell.

For players, Poltergeists start insubstantial, and Storm Form or Wisp Form can turn players insubstantial.[1]

Insubstantial creatures have no special resistances or immunities to weapons of any sort, unlike, for example, NetHack's shades.
