A box filled with the bizarre leftovers of a depraved wizard's magical experimentations. Opening it might set loose a friendly chimera: a mythical hybrid composed from the parts of three seperate beasts. |
A box of beasts is a miscellaneous magic item which can summon an irregular, albeit friendly, monster, classified generally as a chimera.
Chimera
The summoned chimera combines the primary, auxiliary, spells, and special abilities from an amalgamation of three, normally separate monsters. The three types can be viewed by examining the monster's tile.
The comprising monsters can vary greatly and effect a similar variability upon the resulting chimera's dangerousness and utility. For example, a mix of a rat, bat, and butterfly, will be less effective than that of a death yak, dragon, and dire elephant.
