A large, fleshy mushroom that wanders slowly around the dungeon. It is both innately curious and incredibly shy, pursuing the objects of its curiosity only when out of sight. Noxious spores drift around its cap.

“Telimena, wearied with the prolonged wrangling, wanted to go out into the fresh air, but sought a partner. She took a little basket from the peg. “Gentlemen, I see that you wish to remain within doors,” she said, wrapping around her head a red cashmere shawl, “but I am going for mushrooms: follow me who will!” Under one arm she took the little daughter of the Chamberlain, with the other she raised her skirt up to her ankles. Thaddeus silently hastened after her—to seek mushrooms!”
-Adam Mickiewicz, _Pan Tadeusz_, II. 1834.

Useful Info

Wandering mushrooms are shy, fungal monsters with confusing melee attacks. Hostile mushrooms cannot move while in your line of sight. Every time a wandering mushroom attacks, it loses 1 HD, becoming weaker (and dying at 0 HD).

Monsters can summon them using the Summon Mushrooms spell, while players can use Fedhas' Overgrow ability to create them.

Tips & Tricks

  • By the time you find curse toes, wandering mushrooms aren't anything special. However, the mushrooms can block your retreat path, and they can finish off players who've been hit by the toe's torment a few times. You may want to clear them out.

History

  • As of 0.17, wandering mushrooms no longer spawn naturally. They can still be summoned by curse toes, or created by Fedhas.
