Desirability
The crown of vainglory[1] is an overenchanted hat with a good ego and 2 extra ring slots. Many characters can greatly benefit from the ring slots - casters can stack wizardry/intelligence, heavy melee characters can gain strength/slay, and any character can appreciate +8 AC or +10 EV. The exact usefulness of this is reliant on the rings that are currently available, though.
The Majesty property preventing you from leaving a new floor is also a huge liability: going downstairs to find a horde of powerful enemies or a dangerous entry vault is a common occurrence, and not being able to retreat up can put you in severe danger. This item's ^Fragile makes this almost impossible to circumvent, as trying to unequip it before entering a new floor will destroy the item. A strategy is to use this item as a temporary boon - equip it for one or however many floors, then unequip it before going down to a new floor.
Stabbers are very likely to find the item undesirable regardless of the rings they have access to - the stealth penalty and loss of access to invisibility (and thus on-demand partial stabbing) will usually outweigh whatever upsides the crown may have for these characters.
