Tips and tricks

Take care to avoid its LOS when other monsters are around, or attempt to kill it first if possible. A scroll of fear should reliably prevent it from paralyzing you, while Cause Fear likely needs high Hexes skill to work reliably. A scroll of fog can be used to break LOS and temporarily halt its attacks. Airstrike at a decent power can often one-shot them, given that they are levitating monsters with low HP and no AC.

An amulet of stasis will confer immunity to its paralyzing attack.
